Carly Carrigan is going into her fifth year of teaching and choreographing many different styles of dance. She has completed Advanced levels in tap, jazz and ballet through the Performing Arts Educators of Canada (P.A.E.C.). She has also received a teaching certificate through P.A.E.C. and is an Associate Member in the style of jazz. She trained at Somerville Dance Academy since the age of 8, and now teaches/choreographs in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, acrobatics, modern and hip-hop. Carly’s choreography has been featured in fundraising performances, benefit concerts and competitions. Her students have won numerous awards for her choreography and their technical ability. She has assisted at workshops and continues to attend workshops and conventions to keep her choreography and teaching current. Carly also teaches in elementary schools to enhance the Arts curriculum and expose students to different styles of dance. She is going into her last year at York University completing her Bachelor of Arts Honours in Children’s Studies, and finishing the Concurrent Education Program. Her goals are to continue to teach dance, and to teach in an elementary school classroom.
